U.S. Customs and Border Protection held a hiring seminar on Thursday.

Officials with CBP said it's part of an ongoing effort to keep a steady flow of officers and agents.

CBP officials said with the federal agency's vital mission, it's important to make sure vacancies don't stay vacant for long.

Thursday's seminar was focused the minimum requirements potential recruits need to meet to start the hiring process, such as submitting an application and answering questionnaire.

While there is a national spotlight on the office, attendees say that doesn't keep them from wanting to join the ranks.

"It’s a good paying job, and it has good benefits, and it’s what i want to do for long term," said Victoria Flores an attendee.

"I love my country, i’m very patriotic i think. and i’m also from a mexican background. my parents are from mexico. so i understand what they’re trying to do to protect," said Sandra Ortiz another attendee.
