The Mesilla Valley of Hope said that it is prepared for a drop in temperatures and winter weather this week.

The organization helps provide shelter and necessities in Las Cruces for those who are homeless.

Members of the organization said that they went out Tuesday to buy hand and toe warmers to give out to those in need at Camp Hope.

"Everybody seems pretty prepared for it the great thing is that we do have bathrooms and structures where people can stay a little bit warmer here when it really drops down. There are heaters in our bathroom and people will go in there and warm up a little bit and then we really load up on blankets," said Jennette Christensen, the outreach coordinator for Camp Hope.

Christensen said that she also bought coffee and pastries for the residents of the camp.

A total of $1,600 to $1,700 was spent on supplies to make sure everyone at Camp Hope is safe during the winter weather.

Christensen added that the structures at the camp are built to keep things dry and protect residents from the wind.
