Bowie High School students set up their “ofrendas” to honor loved ones for Dia de los Muertos.

The Institute of Oral History at UTEP has been working with Bowie High students and teacher Joel Rodriguez on “Project Coco.”

Students researched the history of the tradition, and talked to family members about their ancestors to create offerings for those who have died.

Students worked for six weeks on different projects for the event, in which they showcased their “ofrendas” and other Mexican imagery.

A celebration was held during lunch in the school’s quad and included music, folklorico dancing, themed games and food.
