El Paso Border Patrol says they are already supported with US National Guard troops

The El Paso FBI is offering a reward for help in finding the person responsible for shooting at a Border Patrol vehicle near the Bridge of the Americas on Thursday.

A Border Patrol agent was on duty in his vehicle around 7:35 p.m. on the south of Loop 375 and Border Highway, directly across from the X monument in Ciudad Juarez.

The agent was in his vehicle when it was hit by gunshots. Officials believe the bullets were fired from a vehicle traveling eastbound on the Border Highway.

“It must have been like four or five shots [that sounded like] Pow Pow, and I knew it had to be gunfire, said Rosario Minjarez a neighbor in the area that heard the gunshots.

The FBI is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the El Paso FBI at 915-832-5000.
