Border Patrol recruiting thousands of agents to fill vacant positions

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is looking to hire Border Patrol agents, CBP officers, and air and marine agents on Thursday for their hiring fair. The seminars will provide information on careers offered by CBP, the USAJobs application process, hiring requirements for the positions and résumé guidance.

The El Paso Sector employs approximately 2,400 Border Patrol agent positions, six permanent vehicle checkpoints and patrols 268 miles of international border.

The sector encompasses 125,500 square miles.

Border Patrol said they allocated over 21,000 agents nationwide, and today, they are about 2,000 below that number.

During the last hiring fair, they attracted more than 300 job applicants.

The hiring fair will be Thursday, Dec. 6. Sessions will be held at 9 a.m., 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. at Park University, located at 1330 Adabel Drive in El Paso.
