Montwood band director to be fired from SISD after inappropriate relationship with student

The Montwood High School band teacher was accused of having a sexual relationship with a student.

The Montwood band director accused of having a sexual relationship with a student will be fired from the district.

The decision came during a special Socorro Independent School District board meeting Wednesday afternoon.

Albert Licon, 38, was arrested after allegations of sexual contact with a female student last month.

Daniel Escobar, spokesperson with the district, said Licon is currently suspended without pay.

“A recommendation was made for termination. Termination will be finalized at next board meeting,” Escobar said.

According to court documents, Licon and the 17-year-old student met in May. The two met at a park on one occasion, where Licon allegedly kissed and touched the student inappropriately.

Licon is also accused of touching the girl in a sexual manner while in the band room.

He has been with the district for four years.

Prior to teaching at Montwood High School, he was employed at Sanchez Middle School, Socorro Middle School and Americas High School, officials said.
