The Aggies are close to playing in their first bowl game in decades.

The football team spent its day celebrating the historic occasion with some of its fans.

CBS4 Daybreak anchor Nate Barrett caught up with some fans who made the trip from Las Cruces to Tuscon to see where the players were staying and what some of the youngest fans were doing Wednesday.

The Aggies are staying at the Westin Hotel.

Players met with fans at Peter Piper Pizza.

The last time New Mexico State was in a bowl game was when Dwight Eisenhower was president in 1960 and they played the same team they will play this time.

The Aggies will face Utah State on Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Arizona Stadium.

The game will be televised on the CBS Sports Network.
