Accused killer of woman shot in El Paso desert identified

A 24-year-old man was identified as the murder suspect in the death of a woman shot in an El Paso desert.

Karina Isabel Tobias, 21, was shot in the desert area near the 14400 block of Montwood Drive on April 10.

RECOMMENDED: 21-year-old El Paso woman shot in desert area, taken to hospital

Tobias was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Days later, authorities stated that the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office was informed that Tobias had died of her injuries.

El Paso County Sheriff's investigators secured an arrest warrant charging Efrain Orozco with the victim's murder.

Orozco was taken into custody and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility under a $500,000.00 bond.
