400 Ft. Bliss soldiers to be deployed to Europe in February

Hundreds of soldiers and several Apache helicopters from Fort Bliss will be deployed to Europe next month.

Fort Bliss officials announced that 400 soldiers and 24 AH-64 Apache helicopters from the 1st Batallion, 501st Aviation Regiment, 1st Armored Division will spend nine months in Europe as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve.

The soldiers will help the 10th Combat Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division out of Fort Drum, New York, the first aviation brigade to support Operation Atlantic Resolve under the aligned force concept, Fort Bliss officials said.

The soldiers will support aviation operations throughout Europe and strengthen relationships with allies and partner nations.

"We are excited to conduct challenging training with multinational forces across several different countries and to learn about many new cultures while doing so.”
