Construction is expected to begin Tuesday to make over a portion of Cincinnati Avenue between Stanton Street and Oregon Street.

The $2.8 million project will begin with the installation of columns for what the city calls the “signature Sun City Lights archway.” The structure will light an area that currently remains dark.

Crews will increase parking, widen the sidewalks and place landscaping along the streets. The city says the project will also bring together public art, urban design and neighborhood revitalization strategies.

Cincinnati Avenue will be closed from Dec. 12 through Dec. 15 between Stanton Street and Oregon Street as crews work on the project.

The city says it hopes to have the project complete before the end of the month.
