Thirty percent of shoppers will wait until this weekend to do the majority of their holiday shopping.

Legacy Pecans, based in Las Cruces, is a convenient gift option for shoppers looking for unique and local gifts.

When most people think of pecans, they think of Georgia. But actually the most flavorful pecans come from southwestern New Mexico.

Legacy Pecans are sustainably grown in the fertile soils of the Rio Grande Valley on the largest family-owned pecan farm in the world. For four generations, the Salopek family has harvested their delicious, premium pecans exclusively for bulk buyers.

Now, Legacy Pecans is available for consumers to purchase as gifts, in a variety of gourmet sampler baskets - including flavors like cinnamon praline and milk chocolate pecans – as well as pecan brittle. Legacy also offers peach and raspberry pecan sauces and pecan coffees.

According to the Salopek family, New Mexican pecans are smaller than Georgia pecans, and hence have a more concentrated sweetness. Every product is small-batch and also made the old-fashioned way, from family recipes.

Legacy pecans can be ordered online at or by pickup at the retail store, located at 2456 Calle de Guadalupe in Mesilla.
