Cuban migrant dies after jumping border wall, hitting head

A Cuban migrant man died after climbing the border wall and falling and hitting his head near Tornillo on Saturday.

Border Patrol agent discovered an unresponsive man approximately one and a half miles west of the Tornillo, Texas port of entry.

While performing line watch duties, the Border Patrol agent discovered the man lying on the ground on the north side of the border barrier with a significant head injury.

The man’s wife, who was present and uninjured, confirmed that the man fell from the border barrier.

The Border Patrol agent immediately requested medical assistance for the man.

An Emergency Medical Technician-certified Border Patrol agent and a Border Patrol agent-Paramedic responded to the scene, evaluated the man, and administered CPR.

Medical personnel from the Fabens Fire Department responded to the scene and assisted with lifesaving efforts.

The Border Patrol agent Paramedic contacted a physician at the University Medical Center and provided the physician with a medical assessment of the unresponsive man.

The University Medical Center physician advised the Border Patrol agent paramedic to cease CPR and declared the man dead.
