One man in critical condition after being shot at Las Cruces barbershop

    Las Cruces police are investigating a shooting that occurred Monday evening inside a barbershop and critically injured a 40-year-old man.

    Police say the man received a gunshot wound to his chest and is in critical condition at an area hospital.

    Police say officers were dispatched to the report of a gunshot victim at an area hospital Monday evening. The victim had been transported there by private vehicle.

    Officers said they learned the shooting occurred at a barbershop in the 1200 block of Foster Road. Investigators said the victim got into some type of dispute with a man believed to be in his early 20s. At some point, the man brandished a handgun and fired at least one round that struck the victim, according to police.

    The shooter fled the barbershop and has not been seen since.

    Investigators said they believe the suspect is Hispanic, approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall, with a thin build, bald, with multiple tattoos on both arms and his upper chest area.
