Beyond the Podium: Rick Bonart
EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) —
Rick Bonart is running for El Paso city rep. Dist. 1 seat in the upcoming midterm election.
District 1 represents parts of west, northwest and Upper Valley.
Bonart was on the board for the City Plan Commission before being replaced this year by Rick Cabrera.
He said he has experience of working with large budgets ($400 million). Bonart served for four years on the service board.
He believes there is inefficiency in our local government.
"If we're the second highest property taxed city in the nation and the highest largest city in Texas, you can understands it translates in us being the least efficient," said Bonart.
Bonart is also known for leading the fight in preserving the Lost Dog Trail.
He says he would advocate for audits on all city departments.
Bonart is running against candidates incumbent Peter Svarzbein, Veronica Roni Frescas and Carlos Corral.
