El Dorado High School creates anti-bullying video

EL PASO, Texas -- Students at El Dorado High School created an "anti-bullying week" video to show the school's different organizations coming together. It has nearly 1,000 views on YouTube as of Thursday.

"Honestly, it brings the school together. I've never seen anything like it with everyone just cooperating at once. It's like a huge family," El Dorado High School senior Trevor Rios said.

The group of students that created it said about 800 other students participated. The video is set to Katy Perry's song "Roar." The El Dorado students said they got the idea from a contest featured on TV's "Good Morning America" where students across the country created videos about their high schools set to that song.

El Dorado's video-production teacher said he has also received emails from teachers across the country showing it to their classrooms.

All schools in the Socorro Independent School District participate in their own anti-bullying week. SISD also started using a new app, Anonymous Alerts, with which students, parents and teachers can report bullying and gang violence.

District officials said eight reports have been submitted since the district rolled out the new technology a couple of weeks ago.
