EL PASO, Texas (KFOX) - On Sunday, September 1, there are several new laws that will go into effect in the state of Texas.
One of them allows pet owners to take their dogs to certain establishments with an outdoor patio.
But, before you get the leash ready, there are some things pet owners should know:
According to the new legislation, the establishments will have a posted sign stating that dogs are allowed in their outdoor dining areas.
Otherwise, pets will not be allowed.
Also, if you do take your dog to the restaurant, they must be on a leash and remain in the outdoor dining area, only.
Dogs will not be allowed to go inside of the establishment.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed the bill into law in June 2019.
The new law also prohibits municipalities from adopting or enforcing ordinances or rules that impose any extra requirements on restaurants.
