Local musician to rock out for dogs

A young musician is using his talents to help some four-legged friends in our community.

His name is Brandon Bailey Johnson and he is known for rocking out, not only in El Paso, but across the world. The teen performs across the country and holds a Guinness World Record for being the youngest professional music producer.

Johnson hosts an annual fundraiser for different causes in El Paso. This year, his new four-legged family member inspired him to host his rock benefit for other dogs in the community. The family kept the stray, a little poodle mix, after she kept roaming in their yard and they couldn’t find her home.

"We’ve just learned so much about dogs and the responsibility of having one. I felt like it’s very important for people to understand what a great responsibility it is, because I didn’t know. I just thought it was having a cute little dog,” said Johnson.

The event is called Rock 4 Dog Bone-I-Fit and will be held Saturday, August 26th at San Jacinto Plaza from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. It’s free but donations will be collected to benefit a local foster groups called Mutt Love Dog Rescue.

Other musicians will be joining Johnson at the event and well-behaved and fully vaccinated furry friends are welcome to join the fun. There will be food, a dress-up contest for dogs and on site adoptions for those looking for a furry friend to add to their family.
