Animal Services is making room for the spring and summer months when they seeit sees an increase in intake of animals.

Shelter officials said the closer to “no-kill” the city gets, the harder it becomes to reach a 90 percent live-release rate.

To prepare for busy months, Animal Services will host its first adoption event of the year.

The shelter is asking for the community’s help by adopting, fostering or donating to the shelter.

The adoption event will be held Saturday at the facility at 5001 Fred Wilson.

Adoptions will include the pet’s spay/neuter procedure, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations and the city license.

Those who can’t adopt are encouraged to foster an animal or donate.

The following donations help:

Dry Dog and Cat Food

Crates and Pet Carriers

Canned Puppy and Kitten Food

Towels and Blankets (new or gently used)
