Carpe Diem: Face and Body Waxing

Waxing the City

Valentines day is usually associated with extravagance... candy, flowers and jewelry. But in some cases on Valentines day... less is more.

A new franchise business in El Paso called "Waxing The City" on the Westside is capitalizing on this concept by removing facial and body hair on both women and men.

Now women have been removing their body hair for ages.

But a recent study by a mens' shaving brand-- found about 85 percent of men ages 18 to 35 are willing to give it a go.

So since my Carpe Diem photographer Oscar Almaraz fits that age group we had him try it. It was his first time EVER getting waxed,.

"I think men have a big problem with coming and getting waxed but i think they want to," said Fernando Ibarra who owns Waxing The City. In fact, not only are men drawn to the idea but the research showed 58 percent of those surveyed said they would try a "brazilian." This is how Ibarra describes this service: "it pretty much does remove all your hair from your front area your inner backside and your buttocks.

Should you decide to be so brave, all the waxing procedures take place in private rooms with licensed technicians. The business boasts a unique wax that soft to the touch when it cools. Contractually Waxing The City is obligated to open two more locations in El Paso. One will be on the Eastside and the other is yet to be determined.
