Anti-bullying campaign kicks off at Walter Clarke Middle School

EL PASO, Texas - The Students of Walter Clarke Middle School in East El Paso kicked off a new stop bullying campaign on Monday. The week-long assembly is the school's way of promoting teamwork, with students participating in teambuilding activities helping them to take a stand against bullying.

The 2015-2016 Olweus Bullying Prevention Program Kick Off Event featured Chico, the Chihuahuas' mascot. The Olweus program is a nationally known program that has been used district-wide for several years. Designed for students in elementary, middle and high schools, it has been proven to prevent or reduce bullying in a school setting.

"Kids need to work together and kids need realize there is a common goal. Here at Clarke, we are pursuing excellence," a school spokeswoman said. "We want to be the tops in everything and the only way we can do that is to be united and share a common goal."

KFOX14 teamed up with Price's Creameries to educate the community about bullying, and to get people to speak up to stop it.
