18-wheeler fire slows down traffic on I-10 east
An 18-wheeler caught fire in east El Paso Monday afternoon.
It happened just before 3 p.m. on Interstate 10 near Americas Avenue.
A spokesperson for the El Paso Fire Department said no one was injured in the fire.
The Texas Department of Transportation said the Americas exit had to be closed for several hours as crews worked to move the semi.
The exit was reopened just before 9 p.m.
A portion of Gateway East was also briefly closed, causing traffic backups on I-10.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
