Pilot program has Hornedo Middle School students start classes earlierBy: Jesse MartinezEL PASO, Texas Safety concerns and traffic congestion has the El Paso Independent School District launching a pilot project that has some parents concerned. Starting next Tuesday students at Hornedo Middle School will start classes earlier at 7:30 a.m. and will be released at 2:30 p.m. Students who have siblings attending the nearby elementary school, Lundy Elementary, will have to remain at Hornedo Middle School until 3 p.m. District officials said their goal is to improve traffic flow between the two schools. "Well, I think it's a good idea because it's always very congested through here and I think it will help improve the safety of all students, hopefully, said Connie Walls, parent. Other parents said the start time is too early for students. EPISD plans to continue the program for three weeks until June 10.
