New Mexico State women's basketball coach Mark Trakh is leaving the Aggies to become the new head coach at the University of Southern California.

NMSU and USC confirmed the hire.

“Mark has been one the most successful coaches in the history of New Mexico State women’s basketball,” Director of Athletics Mario Moccia said. “I’m appreciative of him and the many staff members in his tenure for their hard work and dedication, which resulted in an unprecedented three-year run at NM State. We wish him luck at USC as their new head coach. The search for a new women’s basketball head coach will begin immediately.”

Trakh met with his players to tell them about his plans to leave NMSU for USC.

He led NMSU to three straight appearances in the NCAA Tournament. This past season, the Aggies became only the 2nd team to win the WAC Tournament championship three years in a row.
