Army Trials for Warrior Games being held at Fort Bliss

Fort Bliss is hosting the Army Trials for the fourth year in a row.

More than 120 wounded, ill, and injured active duty soldiers and army veterans from across the nation will compete for the chance to represent Team Army at the 2018 Department of Defense Warrior Games.

The games will be held June 2-9 in Colorado Springs.

Soldiers compete in 11 sporting events: archery, cycling, track and field, shooting, seated volleyball, swimming and wheelchair basketball. Rowing, powerlifting and wheelchair rugby were just added to the sporting events.

The Warrior Care and Transition is partnering with Fort Bliss to conduct the trials, which began March 2.

The following events will be held this month:

March 5: Archery at 8 a.m., rowing from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and seated volleyball at 7 p.m.

March 6: Track and field at 8 a.m. and wheelchair basketball at 7 p.m.

March 7: Shooting at 8 a.m. and rowing from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

March 8: Swimming at 8 a.m. and the closing ceremony will begin at 6 p.m.

All events are open to the community. Those wishing to attend must get a pass at the Buffalo Soldier VCC Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. or the Chaffee VCC, which is open 24 hours a day.
