Aggie fans celebrate historic bowl game
TUCSON, Arizona —
The Aggies' first bowl game since 1960 arrived Friday.
About 42,000 tickets were sold for the Arizona Bowl game. Bowl officials said it's expected to be the largest attendance in Arizona Bowl history.
The majority of tickets sold were to Aggie fans hoping to see their team get its first bowl victory since 1960.
There were far more New Mexico State University fans celebrating at the tailgate than there were Utah State fans.
Many fans made the road trip from Las Cruces.
"I think it's fantastic. It's just the best thing to ever happen to Las Cruces. It's been such a dry spell. Las Cruces used to be the greatest place in the world and it's going to be again," said Mike Porter.
There are also a lot of alumni who moved to other parts of the county but made their way to Tucson to see their Aggies play.
It's been a big reunion of NMSU fans hoping to celebrate a win.
