Recall Alert: Hyundai and frozen chicken

Hyundai logo

Hyundai Motors has issued two separate recalls for hundreds of thousands of cars for different issues.

The first is for 437,400 cars over an issue with the latches. The automaker reports that the secondary hood latch actuating cable could corrode, causing the latch to not work correctly.

That means the hood might not close properly. The 2013-2017 Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport vehicles are affected by this recall. Hyundai will replace the latch cable for free starting June 30. Hyundai’s number for this recall is 163.

The second recall covers 161,074 cars over an issue with the parking brake. The automaker reports that the warning light that indicates that the parking brake is on may not illuminate on the dashboard when the switch corrodes.

That could cause people to drive the car with the parking brake on without knowing it. The 2015-2016 Sonata and Genesis cars are affected by this recall. Hyundai will replace the switches for free starting June 30. The number for this recall is 164.

Hyundai owners with questions on either of these recalls can contact the company at 855-671-3059.

Finally, Gourmet Boutique LLC has issued a recall for 294,744 pounds of frozen chicken that might have undeclared allergens.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Safety Inspection Service announced that the chicken might have undeclared milk ingredients. As a result, people with milk allergies could become ill if they eat the chicken.

The following products are affected by this recall:

-- Gourmet Boutique 3.125-pound frozen packages of “Breaded Chicken Cutlet”

-- Gourmet Boutique 3.125-pound frozen packages of “All Natural Breaded Chicken Cutlet”

-- Gourmet Boutique 5-pound frozen packages of “Diced Breaded Chicken Cutlet”

The chicken was produced between Feb. 3 and June 2 with the establishment numbers P-18799 or P-32107. It was sold at stores nationwide.

There have been no reports of people getting sick but customers are asked to either throw the chicken out or return it to the store for a refund. Customers with questions can contact Gourmet Boutique LLC at 347-887-0128.
