Woman arrested after gun fired during road rage incident
LAS CRUCES, N.M. —
A woman was arrested following a road rage incident that led her to fire her gun at another car, according to Las Cruces police.
Fiona McCrossin, 22, is charged with one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The charge is a fourth-degree felony.
Las Cruces police were dispatched to the scene after reports of gunshots were received near Roadrunner Parkway and Lohman Avenue. No one was injured in the incident.
Investigators learned that a young woman and her 13-year-old sister were traveling east on Lohman Avenue in a tan Lexus. Before the car reached the intersection with Roadrunner Parkway, a female driver in a tan Mazda sedan approached and the two drivers honked their horns at each other.
According to police, both drivers turned north and began driving aggressively. At that point, police said the driver of the Mazda, later identified as McCrossin, pointed a handgun at the Lexus and fired one shot.
The shot shattered the back window of her own car.
Las Cruces police said McCrossin fled the immediate area, but was later found at an apartment on Roadrunner Parkway. A search of her vehicle resulted in police finding the shell casing and the gun police believe she used.
McCrossin was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center where she is initially being held without bond.
