Woman accused of injuring El Paso police officer in drunken crash denies allegation

Sherry Lorraine Rodriguez pleaded not guilty on Feb. 1.

A woman accused of driving while intoxicated and injuring an El Paso police officer says she is not guilty.

Sherry Lorraine Rodriguez pleaded not guilty in court on Wednesday.

Rodriguez is accused of crashing into a police vehicle and seriously injuring Officer Andy Rodriguez in December.

The police officer was conducting a sobriety test on another suspected drunken driver, Daniel Orrantia, when the crash happened, according to dashcam footage.

Evidence shows the police officer pushing Orrantia out of the way.

The impact of the crash sent the police officer's car into the path of Officer Rodriguez.

Sherry Rodriguez is expected to be in court on April 10.

Orrantia pleaded not guilty to the DWI charge he is facing.
