Wind Advisory For Thursday
The National Weather Service in El Paso has issued a wind advisory Thursday from noon until 8 p.m. for much of the borderland.
El Paso and Dona Ana counties are included.
Sustained winds are forecast to hit around 25 to 35 mph, with gusts above 50 mph possible.
Maximum wind speeds are expected between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
The wind will be caused by an upper level-level disturbance to the west which will combine with a surface low to its east.
Blowing dust will be a concern, because visibility could be reduced to less than a mile in a few locations creating dangerous driving conditions.
High-profile profile vehicles will need to use extra caution while driving.
The NWS said in its advisory that the winds may also cause minor property damage.
