Two people were arrested after robbing a west El Paso convenience store and for trying to use the stolen money at another establishment.

Officers said a robbery was reported at the 7-Eleven store at 6500 Escondido Drive in west El Paso.

A man identified as Theodore Habib Ayoub, 21, entered the store, threatened the clerk with a shotgun and took money and cigarettes, police said.

Ayoub left in a vehicle driven by 18-year-old Jordan Nicole Contreras.

About 40 minutes later, officers were called to the 7-Eleven store at 4413 Dyer and found out that Ayoub and Contreras were trying to purchase items with the stolen money from the store on Escondido.
