The “Sanctuary Cities” bill continues to be a topic of conversation at the Texas capitol -- but time is running out.

Here is what the bill aims to do:

The proposal would give lawmakers the right to crack down on local governments

if they do not work with federal immigration agents.

That means police chiefs and elected sheriffs could face jail time if they're not compliant.

Cities and counties could face fines up to $25,000 a day.

Opponents say the proposal raises red flags like discrimination and intimidation.

A committee could send the bill to the full Texas state house this week.
