Update: Suspect in Barmen shooting arrested, charged

The names of the victim and suspect in a shooting that happened outside of a west El Paso bar have been released.

Quintin Brown, 26, was injured outside the Barmen bar Sunday, police said.

Nickolas Scott Maxwell, 37, was arrested in connection to the shooting.

Investigators believe Brown fired rounds from a gun into the air. Then, Scott walked out of the bar armed with a handgun and shot Brown, according to investigators.

Brown was shot multiple times and was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. Maxwell was charged with criminal attempt murder and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on a $500,000 bond.

Police say a fight started inside the bar located at 4130 N. Mesa at 12:25 a.m. They said two groups of men involved in the fight were escorted from the bar by its employees.

The fight continued outside, police said. During the fight, Brown fired rounds from a gun into the air, police said. Police said Maxwell was not involved in the fight, but did shoot Brown.
