Three UTEP students involved in pedestrian crashes, one person in custody, official say

EL PASO, Texas – Three UTEP students were involved in pedestrian crashes Tuesday afternoon, and El Paso police said one person was in custody.

According to UTEP officials, campus and El Paso police are investigating two traffic accidents that happened near the university.

The three pedestrians involved in the crash were UTEP students, officials said.

According to El Paso police, a pedestrian was hit near Prospect Street and Schuster Avenue.

Officers pursued the vehicle in the downtown area and one person was taken into custody, El Paso police said.

UTEP officials said another pedestrian crash happened in the area of University Avenue and Oregon Street.

El Paso police said the department was investigating at least three crashes related to the incident, and that the victims did not receive life-threatening injuries.

No other information was immediately available.
