Three law enforcement sergeants from San Bernardino, California, plan to spread strong message across America in 48 hours.

The will pay their respects to fallen officers through the Cannonball Memorial Run for Awareness.

The non-stop, 48-hour drive includes stops in Dallas, Georgia and Phoenix to collect patches to take to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Participants are raising money to help families who lost their loved ones in the line of duty this year.

The group stopped early Friday morning in El Paso, to pick up a patch to represent Officer David Ortiz.

They said it is a coast-to-coast trip that aims to decrease the number of officers killed at work.
