More than 400 same-sex licenses have been issued in El Paso County in the last two years
Monday marked two years since the U.S. Supreme Court handed down its decision allowing same-sex marriage.
Since June 25, 2015, there have been 304 same-sex marriage licenses issued and recorded in Doña Ana County.
During that same period, El Paso County issued and recorded 436 same-sex marriage licenses.
El Paso made history on June 26, 2015, with its very first gay marriage: Luke Karam and Yairo Herrera.
Meanwhile, Doña Ana County made history two years earlier in New Mexico when Clerk Lynn Ellis became the first clerk in the state to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples on Aug. 21, 2013.
