More El Paso schools add STEM/STEAM for younger grades
EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14) —
Herrera Elementary School just wrapped up its first STEM Expo Thursday afternoon.
It was a way to see how much its fifth graders had learned about science, technology, engineering and mathematics before summer vacation.
One teacher, Lacey Bustamante, shared it was a success for the first year and they plan to continue it for the next coming years at the school.
She said classes would slowly introduce STEM related projects month to month before the Expo kicked off.
It's a nationwide movement to bring out more careers in the STEM and STEAM field.
We reached out to several school districts and EPISD shared it had more than 60 elementary schools with STEM related programs, YISD has more than 30 and SISD couldn't get us the numbers by this morning.
