Lineup revealed for Chalk the Block’s 10th anniversary

The lineup for the annual Chalk the Block festival was revealed Wednesday.

The free event will canvass the streets of downtown El Paso with chalk, vendors and music from Oct. 6 to 8.

“Ten years ago, we started with 12 artists and 5,000 people attending. We have steadily grown to include more than 200 artists, vendors and musicians and installations from around the world,” said assistant director of the Museums and Cultural Affairs Department Ben Fyffe. “This year’s festival will bring new and exciting guest artists and continue the high-quality entertainment we have come to expect from Chalk the Block.”

This year, the event will feature installations created by artists from around the nation, including:

  • Wish Tree: Yoko Ono - New York-based Tokyo artist
  • Spheres of Influence: Curime Batliner and Jake Newsum - Los Angeles
  • Life Cube: Scott Cohen - New York
  • Cycle Sonic: Squonk Opera – Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
  • Sun Metro Bus Art On the Go: Curated by Kalavera Culture Shop, El Paso

Live music will be played throughout the day on Saturday, and DJs will perform all throughout the weekend.
