Las Cruces police take families to "Shop with a Cop"
EL PASO, Texas —
Law enforcement officers in Las Cruces came out Saturday to a local Wal-Mart to help local children get toys, clothes and necessities in time for the holiday season for the annual “Shop with a Cop” event.
During “Shop with a Cop,” 100 children are given $100, and they are allowed to spend $25 on a toy, with the rest is used on items that are needed by the child and the family.
It is an annual event that was organized by the late J.R. Stewart and the Fraternal Order of Police in Las Cruces. Stewart died in late November due to injuries suffered in a car accident. The Fraternal Order of Police held the event this year in his honor.
