Las Cruces man accused of violently beating his wife

A man is accused of hitting and choking his pregnant wife, according to his arrest affidavit.

Romen Armijo, 21, is facing false imprisonment, aggravated battery against a household member and a battery upon a household member charges.

On Christmas Eve, deputies with Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office arrested Armijo after responding to a domestic incident at an apartment complex in the 3500 block of Foothills Drive in Las Cruces.

A deputy who responded said he saw Armijo’s wife in an emotional state. According to the victim, she found text messages on Armijo’s cellphone that indicated he was having an affair with three other women.

Police said once his wife confronted Armijo about cheating, he became very upset and got physical with her.

According to the arrest report, Armijo is accused of pushing down the victim and holding her against her will.

Armijo is also accused of strangling his wife and then kicking her in the back and side of her body near her stomach.

The report indicated that the victim is pregnant with his baby.

The report states, Armijo kept saying, “I want to punch you in the stomach and make you have a miscarriage because you ruined my life.”

She was taken to a hospital for her injuries.

According to police, Armijo was arrested in April for false imprisonment and battery against his wife.

Armijo is currently being held without bond at the Dona Ana County Jail.
