An east El Paso neighborhood is being blocked off while authorities investigate a report of a live grenade, police said.

El Paso police were called out to the 10400 block of Deepwood Court after a live grenade was found, authorities said.

The grenade was found in the attic of a home that belonged to an ex-military service member who police at the scene said.

The grenade was found before 4 p.m. Tuesday while the man's wife was cleaning out the attic. She said she immediately called police to report it.

Police say the street is closed off until it's deemed safe.
