Fort Bliss soldier killed in Iraq
A U.S. solider from Fort Bliss was killed in Iraq on Wednesday, the U.S. Department of Defense announced Friday.
The Department of Defense says 20-year-old Spc. Avadon A. Chaves of Turlock died Dec. 20 at Al Asad, Al Anbar Province, Iraq, from a non-combat related incident.
Chaves was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, Fort Bliss, Texas.
The Department of Defense says Chaves was supporting Operation Inherent Resolve.
The incident is under investigation.
