Former EPPD officer charged with sexual assault
EL PASO, Texas —
A former police officer with the El Paso Police Department is accused of sexually assaulting a woman, investigators said.
William Alexander, 35, handled a call involving the victim, police said.
He later met with the woman when he was off duty and sexually assaulted her, police said.
Officers at a local hospital were investigating a separate case when they were approached by the woman who was at the hospital for treatment. She told the officers that Alexander had sexually assaulted her, investigators said.
The police department’s internal affairs and special investigations units launched separate investigations into the claims.
During the investigation, police said, Alexander resigned from the department in lieu of termination.
Officers arrested Alexander at his home Tuesday.
He is a nine-year veteran of the El Paso Police Department and was assigned to the Central Regional Command Center.
Alexander was charged with sexual assault and booked on a $7,500 bond.
