Former El Paso teacher arrested on child pornography charges in San Antonio
EL PASO, Texas —
A former El Paso teacher was arrested in San Antonio on child pornography charges, police said.
Our sister station, News 4 San Antonio, reported that Neil McGinnis, 60, was arrested at his home after a search warrant was executed.
During the search, authorities found 10 images of child pornography.
McGinnis was a third-grade teacher in San Antonio for three years but retired this year, News 4 reports.
He taught for a total of 25 years and previously worked in El Paso, and Comfort, Texas, and for the Kerrville Independent School District.
Gustavo Reveles with the El Paso Independent School District confirmed that McGinnis was an employee with the district.
Reveles said records show he left the district in 1992 but because his file is old, the details of where he worked and why he left are not available at this time.
He was arrested and charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography and is being held on a $1 million bond.
We have contacted local school districts to ask where McGinnis worked and are waiting to hear back.
