El Paso men charged after stolen cellphone shows up on selling/purchasing app

A Craigslist ad for a cellphone posted in the El Paso area resulted in two arrests.

Two El Paso men were charged with theft, said El Paso police.

Police said 19-year-old Anthony Ochoa contacted the seller of a cellphone on Craigslist.

Ochoa made arrangements to meet with the seller at an apartment complex in the 6800 block of Cielo Vista, said police.

When the woman arrived ready to sell her phone, Ochoa threatened her with a pocket knife and took the cellphone, and ran away.

Police said the victim located her phone for sale on Offer Up later that day.

They said 25-year-old Tevin Lynch met up to sell the stolen cellphone.

Patrol officers saw Ochoa in the area.

Ochoa was found with the stolen phone in his possession.
