El Paso man accused of stealing cash from ATMs he worked on
EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14) —
A man who fixes automatic teller machines was stealing from ATMs in Las Cruces and El Paso, according to police records.
An investigator from the National Cash Register Corp. told police Paul Anthony Martinez was taking money from the deposit storage areas of ATMs in Las Cruces and El Paso.
The thefts began in Las Cruces and continued in El Paso when Martinez was transferred.
The investigation revealed that Martinez stole more than $4,500 out of ATMs he serviced throughout El Paso. One of the machines Martinez stole from was a Wells Fargo ATM at 665 Redd Road.
Martinez stole the money from June 26 through Sept. 11, said police.
He was booked into the El Paso County Jail.
Martinez told the investigator he stole the money because he was having financial problems.
