Police: 18-year-old prompts SWAT standoff during family fight in east El Paso

An 18-year-old woman who prompted a SWAT standoff in east El Paso has been taken into custody.

El Paso Police tweeted around 4 p.m. that the department’s crisis management team and SWAT were responding to an incident at 1750 Lee Trevino Blvd.

Darrel Petry, spokesperson with the El Paso Police Department, said the SWAT standoff happened during a family fight.

The woman was armed but the weapon is unknown at this time, Petry said.

“The female has been taken into custody and is going to be charged with a criminal offense of assault,” Petry said.

Her name has not been released.
