A slow but steady stream of people headed to the El Paso Chihuahuas box office.

Fans are eager to get their hands on playoff tickets.

Some season ticket holders said they can't believe the Chihuahuas clinched their third straight division title.

El Paso Chihuahuas general manager Brad Taylor said the team's success should be credited to the Padres for getting them the players they needed to be able to have these types of playoff results.

He also said the big change about the playoffs this year is that El Paso will host games 3, 4 and 5, so any deciding game will happen in El Paso.

It’s an advantage for the team to have their fans behind them for those big games, said Taylor.

The Chihuahuas will face the Reno Aces in a best-of-five playoff series Wednesday in Reno. After Games 1 and 2 at Greater Nevada Field, the Chihuahuas return home to Southwest University Park on Friday for Game 3 of the series. Games 4 and 5, if necessary, will also be in El Paso.

CBS4 spoke Monday with fans who said they can't wait for the series to start.

“This is great news for El Paso and for the Chihuahuas. They had a great season and it's a last-minute win, and it just has been an exciting season,” said season ticket holder John Schmidt.

“I'm hoping they win everything this year. Last year, they went to the playoffs and they got knocked off in Oklahoma City but I'm hoping this year they can win it out,” said season ticket holder James Sanders.

The El Paso Chihuahuas clinched the Pacific Coast League's Pacific Southern Division title Sunday with a 7-3 victory over the Sacramento River Cats at Raley Field. It is the third consecutive division championship for El Paso.

Playoff strips and individual game tickets for the 2017 Pacific Coast League playoffs are on sale now at the Southwest University Park Box Office.

Each strip includes one seat for each potential playoff home game of each potential playoff round. Season seat holdershave the first opportunity to purchase 2017 playoff strips in their current respective season seats.

Strips may be purchased either in-person or over the phone. Fans who purchase a playoff ticket strip will enjoy a cost savings over those buying individual game tickets. Playoff strips are not available online. For any games not played, the value of the tickets may be applied towards any 2018 season seat package. Tickets for games that are not played are refundable.
