Car involved in theft ring allegedly taken to racetrack

A new video obtained exclusively by KFOX14/CBS4 appears to show the 2017 Acura NSX, that was illegally obtained by four people using fraudulent documents, being drag raced at the El Paso Motorplex in Clint, TX.

The race happened on June 30. There is no word on who was the driver of that car.

The car was taken as part of an elaborate car theft ring in which four people used the fraudulent documents to obtain a 2012 Chevy Camaro, a 2014 Nissan Armada, a 2015 Ford F-150, and a 2016 Dodge Challenger Hellcat, along with the Acura NSX from Fox Acura.

The Acura NSX alone is worth an estimated $207,500.

Mark Mitchell, 45, Amy Chavira, 22, Nicole Davidson, 28, and Robert Lee Reynolds III, are accused of working together to obtain the vehicles between June 2016 and July 2017.

All four were charged with theft of more than $300,000 and engaging in organized criminal activity.

The group was booked into the county jail with bail set at $200,000 for Mitchell, $300,000 for Chavira, $500,000 for Davidson and $350,000 for Reynolds.

More charges are expected as police continue the investigation.
