EL PASO, Texas - A young boy from North Carolina stopped in El Paso in hopes of getting people's attention for a good cause on his way to Florida.

C.J. Burford began his journey in hopes of raising money and awareness for children diagnosed with cancer. Burford, who loves riding his bike, said he heard a song on the radio that inspired him to ride his bike for a reason.

"Am I supposed to ride my bike for Jesus?" Burford asked his mom. She replied, "Yes, God gave you healthy legs and lungs. You should ride your bike for Jesus."

The 9-year-old told KFOX14 he wants to make a difference. Being young is not a challenge for Burford he hopes he motivates other children to do the same.

"You're not too young. Little kids can make a difference," he said.

Burford's mom, Kenadi, has been by his side with the help of loveFAR, a nonprofit organization, since Sept. 1 when they left California.

The money he raises on this ride which ends in November in Florida will go to the National Children's
Cancer Society.
