Weekend events happening Aug. 4-6
El Paso, TEXAS —
The UTEP Athletics Department hosts a special event today for season ticket holders. Fans can pick up tickets from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Larry K. Durham Center.
Season ticket holders who show up between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. will have the opportunity to meet this season's football players, coaches, and cheerleaders. Fans will also receive free promotional items featuring the team logo.
UTEP football season tickets start at just $55 and family packs are available for $190. The family packs include 2 adult tickets and 2 youth tickets for those ages 12 and under. Call (915) 747-6150 to reserve your tickets for five home games including Rice (Sept. 9), Arizona (Sept. 15), WKU (Oct. 7), UTSA (Oct. 28) and LA Tech (Nov. 18).
The WesTexas and New Mexico Florist Association kicks off its 63rd annual convention in Las Cruces. The ribbon cutting ceremony officially kicks off the event at 7 p.m. Aug. 4 at the NM Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum. A runway show is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. and a cash bar is available. The theme for this year's event is "two weddings and a funeral."
Brightwood College in El Paso will host a back-to-school event Aug. 5 from 10 a.m. to noon. Administrators with the school will provide campus tours while attendees can enjoy free refreshments and live music. Attendees are also encouraged to bring and donate school supplies for a local school supply drive. Gift card give-aways and other prizes will be raffled. The event is free and open to the public.
The El Paso Police Department's Torch Run Members will hold a garage sale Aug. 5 starting at 6 a.m. in the parking lot of the garage facility across from police headquarters, located at 911 N. Raynor Rd. Proceeds will benefit the Special Olympic Law Enforcement Torch Run for 2018.
Any citizen wishing to donate items to the garage sale may do so by dropping off items between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Aug. 4.
